The inconsistency of collection evaluation criteria in Ukrainian legislation for natural history collections was established. National legislation that regulates the gathering, preservation and circulation of natural history collections does not meet the requirements of effective collection management. Inconsistent laws and regulations, the subordination of natural history museums to various management bodies, lead to the absence of uniform standards for the management of natural history collections. In Ukraine, there is no clear regulatory framework for the gathering and circulation of paleontological collections. This leads to the emergence of a "grey" market of paleontological samples and the illegal export of valuable samples abroad. The legal acts that museums must be guided by to preserve collections under martial law are aimed, first of all, at the evacuation of the civilian population and do not contain detailed instructions for preparing for the evacuation of collections. We have developed order of evacuation for natural history collections, according to which the items of the first line are: type specimens; samples of high commercial value; institutional "icons"; collection documentation. Items of the second line: specimens of rare, endangered, extinct, species; samples whose collection sites no longer exist; voucher samples. Third-line items: poorly documented specimens; scientific and auxiliary fund; educational collections; collections of expedition materials. The proposed methodology of integral expert assessment of scientific natural collections, based on the principles of systematicity, classification, complexity, interdisciplinarity, historicism, logic, etc., that allow identifying the most valuable natural objects.
