The purpose of the work is to research, analyze and generalize the diagnostic features that will be used to identify synthetic analogues, imitations and refined semi-precious stones to determine the nature of their origin. The subject of research is refined, synthetic, reconstructed, composite semi-precious stones and their natural and artificial imitations. Research methods are theoretical (analysis of specialized literature, classification of imitations, synthetic analogues and refined varieties of semi-precious stones), empirical (observation and measurement of diagnostic properties, description and comparison of diagnostic signs, laboratory studies of imitations, synthetic analogues and refined varieties of semi-precious stones ). Research equipment and instruments – a gemological magnifier with ten times magnification, a special daylight gemological lamp with a color temperature of 5000 to 5500 degrees Kelvin (hereinafter referred to as a gemological lamp), a microscope, a refractometer, scales with an attachment for hydrostatic weighing, an infrared Fourier spectrometer. Thermo Fisher Scintific" model "Nicolet 6700" (hereinafter - IR-Fourier spectrometer), X-ray energy spectrometer "СЕР-01" model "ElvaX-Light" (hereinafter - spectrometer ElvaX). Obtained results: scientific product "Methodology of identification of synthetic analogues, imitations and refinement of semi-precious stones"; educational manual "Attestation and expert assessment of imitations, synthetic analogues and refined varieties of semi-precious stones". The obtained results can be used to solve a wide range of tasks of scientific gemological examination and to improve the quality of gemological education.
