Research methods - the solution of the set tasks was carried out using the methods of similarity theory and modelling to study the properties and technical characteristics of composite supports and power lines using them. The application of an integrated approach to the analysis of the technical condition of the power networks of the IPS of Ukraine, current challenges to the development of the energy sector and existing technologies for the transmission of electricity made it possible to justify the feasibility of using supports made of composite materials in the development, reconstruction or design of new overhead power lines for power networks of different voltage classes. The method of limit states is applied to the mechanical calculation of supports to investigate the influence of the design and type of composite material of supports on the indicators of the operating modes of electric power networks, which was performed using the theory of Markov processes. The determined parameters and quantitative characteristics of the modes of operation of power networks with different transmission line supports were used to compare the options for constructing an electric network to ensure the highest efficiency of its operation. The article develops a criterion for the use of composite supports for power networks, which takes into account the peculiarities of implementation and operation of overhead power lines in real conditions of functioning of the energy market and the impact of long-term operation of power networks. The proposed criterion is based on the application of an integrated approach to ensuring compliance with the permissible ranges of operating parameters, reliability and quality indicators, technical and economic characteristics during the operation of power networks.
