The purpose of the research is to streamline the classification and general requirements for personal protective equipment for rescuers against hazardous chemical and radioactive substances in emergency situations and the use of weapons of mass destruction. The research method is analytical. Today in Ukraine there are no national regulatory documents that define the requirements for personal protective equipment for rescuers against hazardous chemical and radioactive substances in emergency situations and armed conflicts. This is the reason for the relevance of the research project "DSTU PPE Kits for Rescuers". As a result of the research, a draft national standard was developed that establishes the classification and general technical requirements for sets of personal protective equipment for rescuers whose activities are related to emergency rescue operations performed in conditions of radioactive, chemical contamination and biological contamination. The developed standard is intended for use by organisations and enterprises engaged in the design and manufacture of PPE kits, as well as by executive authorities, local self-government bodies, other state bodies, organisations and enterprises of all forms of ownership, that ensure the implementation of the state policy in the field of civil protection, organise the provision of rescuers and specialised services with these kits in case of a threat or in the event of a disaster, as well as in the event of the use of weapons of mass destruction.
