Today, the road surface on 95% of Ukraine's highways is non-rigid and consists of asphalt concrete (on which, according to current regulations, current and major repairs must be carried out every 4 and 12 years, respectively). The latest trends, both in Ukraine and in the countries of the near abroad, testify to the prospect of active implementation of hard-type covering structures - cement concrete in road construction. Thin-walled structures made of reinforced concrete in road construction have been known in world practice for a long time. However, due to the influence of dynamic loads, which only increase every year, low crack resistance (35-40% of the load-bearing capacity of the elements) during their operation, thin-walled structures are designed with significant margins of strength, which leads to significant cost overruns. The project developed thin-walled road structures and rigid cement-concrete pavements made of dispersed reinforced concrete with the addition of reinforcing elements in the form of short steel segments 30-50 mm long (fibers). The combination of hard fibers (fibers) with a matrix (concrete) allows to significantly increase the crack resistance of structures under the influence of repeated and dynamic loads.
