Methodological principles for the introduction of ecosystem payments have been formed, which provide for the development of differentiated schemes of ecosystem payments depending on the types of ecosystems and their services; development of an algorithm for choosing optimal schemes of ecosystem payments for areas of different types; evaluation of the socio-ecological-economic effect of the implementation of the tool for community development. Key indicators for determining the parameters and conditions for making ecosystem payments have been developed, which include taking into account the area of the ecosystem, the volume of its resources, the cost of services provided by the ecosystem, the costs of implementing measures to restore the ecosystem, and the amount of damage caused.
