The leading interdisciplinary approaches to the study of communicative units within the main paradigms of modern linguistics are identified, the leading approaches to the study of communicative units in diachrony within the main paradigms of modern linguistics are finally outlined. The principles of German-language competence formation are specified and the meaning of pluricentrism in the modern German-speaking space is clarified. The structural and semantic features of the types of modern German-language TV discourse are defined and characterised. The study of the realisation of vocalism in the composition of anglicisms has made a certain contribution to the formation of a new language standard of the German language and has proved to be promising in terms of finding universal properties of the structure of foreign language units in the system of the recipient language, and thus has become valuable for the general theory of Germanic linguistics. For the first time, the mechanism of systemic and structural organisation of communicative units in a communicative situation is developed. The directions of ensuring the effectiveness of the process of forming foreign language communicative competence in higher education institutions of philological orientation are highlighted. The models of variation of communicative units in the German-speaking space are constructed, focusing on the evolutionary development of the German language and its dialects.
