Research methodology: specially developed original programs for calculating transfer processes were used to study aerodynamics and heat transfer. In some tasks, licensed commercial computer packages were used. Experimental studies were conducted in a climatic chamber, in an experimental passive house of the “zero-energy” type, at the energy-efficient window testing ground of the administrative building of the institute and in the climatic chamber of the University of Technology in Kielce, Poland. Results and their novelty: The results of determining the temperature fields and heat flux distributions on the surfaces of all the studied windows were obtained. Their thermal insulation properties were evaluated. For the first time in Ukraine, the following were theoretically, experimentally and practically investigated: double windows (two consecutive two-chamber) without and with a heat-ventilated inter-window space; three-chamber double-glazed window; vacuum double- glazed window. Scientific and technical approaches to using a double-glazed window with nanostructured aerogel were proposed for the first time. Further development of the study of the thermal resistance of window profiles of various configurations was obtained. A comprehensive analysis was conducted and optimization of window selection was proposed in terms of energy efficiency-rational cost. For the first time, passive electric windows were comprehensively studied using electric heating of glass and aluminum distance frames. For the first time in Ukraine, experimental use of BIPV windows was applied. The optimal depth of installation of the window in the window opening was proposed.
