The goal of the project is to develop crosslinked biopolymer nanocomposite gel materials based on polyvinyl alcohol, polysaccharides of various origins, hyaluronic, alginic, and γ-polyglutamic acid, and Ag or ZnO nanoparticles to stimulate the regeneration of living tissues and wound healing.

 Polymer hydrogels were formed based on polyvinyl alcohol polymer (which performed the function of crosslinking the polymer), hyaluronic acid (which performed the function of regenerating living tissues) and silver oxide and zinc oxide nanoparticles, which performed the bactericidal function. Crosslinking of samples with subsequent formation of hydrogels was performed by freezing. Bactericidal Ag2O and ZnO nanoparticles were formed during the formation of hydrogels during the reduction of silver and zinc salts using hyaluronic acid. Confirmation of the formation of Ag2O and ZnO nanoparticles was performed using X-ray structural analysis and Raman spectroscopy. It was found that samples with a shorter freezing time have a greater sorption capacity, which is important for the sorption of wound extrudate. It was found that the mechanical properties of hydrogel materials increase with increasing freezing time of samples, while their relative deformation decreases. It was found that the created polymer hydrogels have antimicrobial activity against opportunistic microorganisms, including gram-positive (S. aureus, S. epidermidis) and gram-negative (E. coli, P. aeruginosa) bacteria. Cyto- and genotoxicity studies of the studied materials showed that they are not toxic up to a concentration of 0.1 wt.% nanoparticles in the samples. In the study of wound healing, it was found that all wounds healed 18–30 days after surgery. The best effect was shown by the PVA-GA sample (30-1 wt.%) with 0.05 wt.%, 0.1 wt.% Ag2O. As a result of the studies, polymer hydrogel materials with effective antimicrobial activity, which do not exhibit cyto- and genotoxic effects and contribute to the regeneration of living tissues and wound healing, were formed.
