Objects: processes of energy accumulation and release in hybrid energy storage systems based on nanoporous carbon and metal-oxide materials
Purpose: creation of physicochemical foundations of hybrid electrochemical systems with nanostructured electrodes for a significant increase in the specific energy of supercapacitors due to hybridization of components of lithium-ion batteries and supercapacitors, as well as development of hybrid electrochemical systems that can be used as power sources with high values of specific energy, power and efficiency.
Research methods: porometry, galvanostatic cycling, cyclic voltammetry, impedance spectroscopy, X-ray nanotomography, X-ray diffraction.
Results: A physicochemical model of a hybrid system was put forward, which showed that the introduction of nanoporous carbon material, which has a huge surface area and is capable of rapid charge and discharge processes, into the composite electrodes based on lithium-containing materials promotes the corresponding charge-discharge processes in the entire electrochemical system. The optimal composition of electrodes in hybrid systems was established by balancing the capacities and working potential ranges of various system components, which enabled to develop a hybrid system with a specific energy of 50-60 Wh/kg. It was shown that the use of an acetonitrile-based electrolyte in the hybrid system allowed to significantly decrease the internal resistance of samples, which resulted in increasing the specific power up to 4-5 kW/kg. The developed hybrid systems were tested at the pilot production of "Yunasko” LLC, where an experimental batch of hybrids with a nominal capacity of up to 3 A.h and exhibiting the specific energy and power densities mentioned above was manufactured. These samples withstand up to 30 thousand full charge-discharge cycles and the time of their 100% charging can be reduced to 6 minutes. These indicators exceed the best world analogues.
Keywords: supercapacitor, lithium
