The subject of research is the influence of anthropogenic factors on river delta formation in the northern part of the Black Sea basin. In June 2023, powerful flooding occurred in the Dnieper Delta due to the destruction of the Kakhovskaya HPP, resulting in the entire delta surface becoming silted. In 2024, remote sensing data indicated that the delta ecosystem had nearly fully recovered. The rapid growth of herbaceous vegetation played an important role in this. The shelling of the region led to fires in significant areas (mainly on the left coast of the delta). In the delta, areas affected by fires quickly recovered during the growing season due to regrowth of herbaceous vegetation. In total, in 2024, about 5,014 hectares were affected by fires in the Dnieper Delta. The flow of water to the Dniester delta became more uniform after the creation of the Dniester reservoir. Overgrowth of water bodies with wetland vegetation is observed in the upper part of the delta and at the mouth of the Dniester. As a result, the areas of wetlands and dry meadows and marshes overgrown with reeds have increased. The increase of these lands is 89.8 hectares/year for the period from 1975 to 2023. There are also changes in land cover due to fires in the delta. In 2024 (August, 12 - August, 15) the fire destroyed 7,485 ha of the delta (27% of its area). The Danube Delta experiences a more complex influence of both sea and river. The increase of agricultural land in its northwestern part has a noticeable impact on the unique ecosystems of the delta. In the coastal part of the delta, there is an increase in wetlands in its northern part and between the mouths of the Kiliya and Sulina channels. And in the southern part of the coast, there is erosion. Wetlands are affected by frequent fire Product Description popup.authors Illienko Volodymyr V. Ladyka Maryna M. Ladyka Oleksandr V.
