The purpose of the work is to establish a cause-and-effect relationship between the violation of the conditions of intrauterine development of fetuses associated with the social and emotional stress of pregnant women during the entire period of gestation and the appearance of negative structural and functional changes in the thyroid gland in the offspring at puberty. The paper studied the impact of social and emotional stress throughout pregnancy on the development of the offspring, evaluated the hormonal, as well as the structural and functional characteristics of the thyroid gland and the histological features of the epiphysis of the brain of the offspring in the adult reproductive age. Prenatal stress leads to: a delay in the somato-sexual development of offspring in the early postnatal period; changes in the histostructure of the thyroid gland of adult offspring, which are more pronounced in females than in males, which is expressed in an increase in the proliferation of the thyroid and extrafollicular epithelium, which should be considered as an internal reorganization, aimed at strengthening the processes of hormone formation and improving the body's adaptation to postnatal life. Histological examination of the epiphysis of the brain indicates a more intense loss of part of the parenchyma than during age-related atrophy of the organ. Stress-induced changes in the structure and function of the thyroid gland and epiphysis of the brain of the offspring together create the prerequisites for the development of thyropathies in the offspring even in the reproductive age. Also, these changes are the basis for the formation of metabolic disorders in the following stages of ontogenesis. Field of application – endocrinology, family medicine, neonatology, pediatrics.  Product Description popup.authors Bielkina Inna O. Boyko Marina O. Bondarenko Tetiana V. Burma Tetiana Yu.
