The purpose of the work is to clarify, study and justify the scientific, organizational and methodological bases and practical experience regarding the optimization processes of the formation of library funds, in particular depository (repository) as a priority direction of depository libraries, as guarantors of the preservation of intellectual resources in the conditions of transformational and innovative changes in activity. The research methodology was based on a combination of general scientific principles of scientific knowledge: objectivity, historicism, research evidence, integrity, practical orientation. The scientific novelty of the work consists in actualizing the issue of transformation of ideas about depository libraries in the context of modern trends, innovations and perspectives. The experience of the functioning of depository funds and the use of information technologies for their preservation and representation through the creation of innovative products has been studied. The main directions of work on preservation of document funds of the depository library were studied. Conceptual principles for the organization of storage and representation of scientific funds of the NSAL NAAS in modern conditions of informatization have been developed. The electronic DB «Scientific publications on agriculture and related fields on electronic media in the funds of the NSAL NAAS» in LAS «IRBIS» has been filled. The bibliographic editing of the «Golden Beet Collection» database was completed and completed. The electronic resource has been expanded with digitized full-text editions. The library fund is represented through virtual and book thematic exhibitions, informational events, fulfillment of thematic requests that require in-depth search.
