The general purpose of the project is to develop and investigate an adaptive robotic system designed to automate the additive technology well drilling tool prototype manufacturing using the electric arc surfacing process - WAAM ("Wire and Arc Additive Manufacturing"). After the hostilities end an important issue will arise regarding the housing stock and infrastructure restoration. Pile foundations are widely used in the construction of multi-story buildings. The main method of drilling wells for piles is rotary auger drilling, in which the destroyed rock is delivered from the well to the surface by a special technological drilling tool - an auger. Therefore, it is important to constantly and timely restore the number and range of drilling tools, which can be achieved by implementing WAAM additive technologies. A model of a robotic system designed for WAAM manufacturing of drill augers based on their CAD models has been created. Experimental studies have yielded a sufficiently high accuracy of parts WAAM manufacturing with an error not exceeding ± 0.3 mm relative to the given CAD model. The results of samples mechanical testing indicate that the welded metal has sufficiently high impact toughness and strength. Based on the obtained scientific and technical results, recommendations have been prepared on the features of implementing WAAM additive technology using the robotic arc surfacing process, and a general WAAM methodology for manufacturing technological well drilling tools with increased mechanical properties has been developed. The use of the developed robotic system allows us to guarantee high quality WAAM manufacturing of well drilling tools due to adaptive control of the arc deposition mode and compliance with high accuracy of trajectory working out.
