A modern HiPIMS coating sputtering technology based on the VUP-5M device has been implemented and the necessary equipment for its implementation has been manufactured: a magnetron with a target diameter of 60 mm with an improved water cooling system; a computerized two-coordinate table for a substrate holder; a coating thickness gauge, a thermocouple vacuum gauge with a modernized electrical circuit and improved calibration. The microstructure and physical and mechanical properties of refractory single-layer (Ta, Nb) and two-layer Ta/Nb/Sub (S – substrate) coatings were studied and the most effective HiPIMS modes were determined, in which the coatings are characterized by the highest indicators of physical and mechanical properties.
