To improve quality of life and oncological outcomes in patients with resectable forms of gastric cancer by examining XELOX and FLOT regimens in a randomized trial. popup.description2 Object of study: 351 patients with colorectal cancer with metastatic liver disease between September 2002 and June 2024 who underwent surgical and combined treatment at the National Cancer Institute. The aim of the study is to improve the quality of surgical treatment in patients with resectable colorectal cancer by implementing laparoscopic technologies, intraoperative ultrasound examination and personalised anaesthetic support. Research methods: general clinical, clinical and instrumental, morphological, biophysical, statistical research methods. Brief description of the report. Based on our research, we analysed the results of treatment of patients with CRC with metastatic liver disease over the 20-year period of the National Cancer Institute's activity. The implementation of such a highly specialised surgical project as a laparoscopic liver resection programme requires significant initial and ongoing efforts [30]. An analysis of our experience in laparoscopic liver surgery helped us to identify several challenges we faced in launching this programme in a Ukrainian state centre. First, the training of our surgical team was not systematic. Second, due to underfunding from the state, we do not have sufficient technical equipment. Thirdly, there is patient hesitation due to lack of awareness of the benefits of minimally invasive approaches. These problems and their solutions will be the subject of our future research projects. We have found that laparoscopic liver resections (LRL) are associated with better short-term outcomes: lower overall morbidity, shorter operation duration and significantly shorter postoperative hospital stay. In terms of oncological outcomes, LRPs are equivalent to open resections in terms of overall and recurrence-free survival. Thus, laparoscopic liver resections are an appropriate method of surgical treatment, safely adapted to the realities of our institution. Product Description popup.authors Burlaka Anton A.
