The quality of seedlings directly affects yield, resistance to diseases and pests, as well as the economic efficiency of production. Currently, the nursery base of the Ukrainian viticulture industry does not provide sufficient production of planting material, which forces domestic producers to purchase imported seedlings. However, such a solution has its limitations. Importing planting material may be economically unprofitable due to its high cost, logistics costs and customs duties. In addition, imported seedlings are not always adapted to local climatic and soil conditions, which increases the risks of their low productivity. In this regard, there is an urgent need to develop the domestic nursery base of viticulture. This requires the introduction of modern technologies for growing seedlings and the use of the latest technical means. Of particular importance is the production of grafted grape seedlings, which are characterized by increased resistance to diseases and pests. Today, grafting devices with an omega-shaped cutting knife are mostly used for the production of such seedlings. However, the lack of domestic production of high-quality grafting knives with a high technological resource significantly hinders the development of this industry. Dependence on imported technologies increases production costs and complicates the widespread use of innovative solutions. The development of local production of grafting devices and knives adapted to the needs of Ukrainian producers is a strategic task. This will reduce dependence on imports, reduce production costs and contribute to the creation of competitive products of domestic viticulture and winemaking.
