The research methods include theoretical (calculation of furnace processes, dust systems, metal temperature, thermal-hydraulic calculations) and industrial tests on TPP and CHP boilers. It is shown that new RES capacities can partially replace damaged coal-fired power plants, but during the period of investment return, their cost is significantly higher than the cost of electricity from TPPs, which confirms the economic feasibility of TPP restoration. The factors that reduce reliability and limit the range of load control are identified. In particular, the dependence of the upper load limit on air intakes/outflows, as well as the problem of limited performance of dust systems due to insufficient flow of the drying agent through the separator, were established. A mathematical model of the TPP-210A boiler unit converted to gas coal was built, and the zones of critical overheating were determined. The reasons for overheating of the metal of the screens due to pulsations between the pipes were also identified, and methods for their elimination were proposed. Technical solutions were developed for the production of fuel mixtures with coal with excellent characteristics, removal of load restrictions, elimination of flame distortions and thermal damage to screens, as well as for the conversion of anthracite boilers to gas coal. The results were implemented at Trypillia and Zmiiv TPPs, Cherkasy, Darnytsia, and Chernihiv CHPs, which is confirmed by the acts of energy companies and design organizations.
