Karazin Kharkiv National University popup.description1 The project is dedicated to researching the mechanisms of asteroids from the main asteroid belt transitioning to orbits that approach Earth through Kirkwood gaps, from which resonant perturbations by planets efficiently eject asteroids. In the course of the project, numerical simulations of asteroid motion within the Kirkwood gaps will be conducted for the first time, fully accounting for non-gravitational effects such as the Yarkovsky and YORP effects, depending on surface roughness. This will allow for the most accurate assessment of the rates of replenishment of the near-Earth asteroid population up to the present day. Based on refined criteria for classifying mineralogical types using data from new surveys of the celestial sky from both space and ground-based observations, a complete picture of the taxonomic diversity of asteroids near Kirkwood gaps will be obtained. The results obtained will subsequently enhance the reliability of asteroid impact predictions with Earth, help develop a methodology for deflecting potentially hazardous asteroids, and can be used to select asteroids with specified properties as targets for space missions. popup.description2  : Based on the analysis of data on the number of rocks of various sizes on the surface of an asteroid, a new analytical formula for the surface density of rocks has been proposed. This formula describes the roughness of the asteroid's surface and is approximately valid over a wide range of boulder sizes. The contribution of an individual boulder to the YORP effect has been numerically modeled, and its dependence on the boulder's size and shape has been investigated. By quadratically summing the contributions of individual randomly distributed boulders on the asteroid's surface, a numerical expression for the impact of surface roughness on the YORP effect has been derived. For comparative analysis with the asteroid's surface, the mineralogy of rough areas in the southern part of the Aristarchus Plateau on the Moon has been studied using data from the M3 instrument of the Chandrayaan-1 space mission.
