Development of technology and equipment for heat treatment of welded joints of railway and tram rails made by arc welding and for induction pressure welding of carbon and high-carbon steels using activating substances. The main research methods include theoretical studies and mathematical modeling of physical processes in the column and anode region of the welding arc; computer modeling of energy, momentum, mass and charge transfer processes in the arc plasma and in the welded metal. Metallographic methods of studying the crystal structure of the metal using light and electron microscopy, dilatometric studies with the construction of thermokinetic diagrams of metal structure formation, methods of thermoelectrometry and pyrometry, methods of mathematical and physical modeling of induction processes. Development of mathematical (computer) models of thermal, gas/hydrodynamic and electromagnetic processes in the arc discharge and in the weld pool during TIG welding are used to design optimal modes to increase welding efficiency in the E.O. Paton Institute of Electric Welding of the National Academy of Sciences of Ukraine and in the ISF (Germany). The application of the developed method and equipment for induction heat treatment will increase the reliability of welded joints of railway and tram rails, the welded joints of which are made by arc welding.
