M. Vysotsky popup.description1 To specify current composition of harmful organisms associations, peculiarities of their biology, seasonal development, spread and harmfulness for the main forest-forming tree species under climate change popup.description2 Study object: harmful insects and forest pathogens. Aim of the study: to specify current composition of harmful organisms associations, peculiarities of their biology, seasonal development, spread and harmfulness for the main forest-forming tree species under climate change. Methodology of the study: methods of comparative ecology, entomology, mycology, silviculture, and forestry, along with statistical analysis and original approaches for assessing and predicting the distribution and harmfulness of organisms, specifically developed by the authors for phytophagous insects. Markers of Scots pine resistance to the decline in bark beetle foci have been determined by identifying differences in the content of water-soluble proteins and phenolic compounds in the sapwood. The increased content of proanthocyanidins and catechins to some extent counteracts the penetration and spread of stem pests, which allows such trees to maintain viability against the background of mass mortality. Among the Lepidoptera leaf-eating insects in the deciduous forests of Ukraine, an increase over the past 70 years in the prevalence of indifferent species, small-sized species, and those with cryptic or semi-cryptic lifestyles was proven. A scoring system for assessing the harmfulness of phytophagous insects with different feeding strategies and ecological behaviors has been tested. Product Description popup.authors Baturkin Denys O.
