The ways of solving the issue of increasing road safety are considered, changes in the volume of transport environmental load are studied using the example of the city of Kharkiv. The issue of the feasibility of determining traffic parameters and using artificial intelligence for traffic management in large cities, taking into account the dynamics of traffic flows, is considered. A description of the practical implementation of contour traffic management on the street and road network of the city of Kharkiv is provided. An assessment of the impact of elements of road and pedestrian infrastructure on the efficiency of the functioning of intersections is determined. The purpose of the work is to increase traffic safety based on the study of traffic patterns in cities, on suburban roads and individual complex elements of the transport infrastructure. Research methods are mathematical and simulation modeling of traffic and pedestrian flows, analysis of safety indicators, probabilistic methods for determining the risks of road accidents and the laws of distribution of traffic flow parameters. An analysis of transport and social safety of road traffic in Ukraine and abroad was conducted. Results were provided on improving road safety, promising measures for road traffic organization were identified that affect road safety and increase its efficiency.
