Registration Date 18-11-2025 Organization Bogomolets Institute of Physiology of the National Academy of Sciences of Ukraine popup.description1 Investigate the molecular mechanisms of occurrence of the most common neurological disorders and develop methods for their correction. popup.description2  The aim of this work is to investigate the effects of potential modulators on GABAA receptor activity, the molecular mechanisms of excitation and sensory transduction in nociceptive skin afferents, the features of post-traumatic recovery and structural changes in the spinal cord of male and female mice, the functional interaction between G-actin and cytochrome c as a possible mechanism of apoptosis regulation in nerve cells, the effects of naringenin and antipsychotic drugs on the function of HERG channels and their interaction, and to optimize the algorithm for modeling the kinetics of currents through nAChRs. Research methods: patch-clamp, flow cytometry, mathematical modeling, immunofluorescent staining, behavioral tests, experimental injury modeling, confocal microscopy, electrophysiology, gene expression analysis, population analysis. A screening of new compounds on GABAA receptors was carried out, resulting in the identification of two compounds with moderate potentiating effects and no toxicity. The studies demonstrated that ASIC and TRPV1 antagonists do not affect proton-induced excitation of skin nociceptors, while a selective TRPV1 antagonist inhibits only capsaicin-induced activity. In addition, cannabidiol reduces ATP-induced activation. Sex differences in post-traumatic spinal cord regeneration were revealed, with males exhibiting an advantage. Cannabigerol and cannabidiol showed anticonvulsant effects in epilepsy models. The combined action of naringenin and antipsychotic drugs on HERG channels indicates an allotopic interaction, which may be relevant for the safety of these drugs. A correlation was established between green tea consumption and decreased mortality from COVID-19. Short-term interaction of G-actin with cytochrome c, potentially involved in apoptosis regulation, was demonstrated. A mathematical model of nAChR blockade and desensitization was proposed, which reproduces the main experimental effects. Product Description popup.authors Kryshtal Oleh О. Rybachuk Oksana A.
