Cutting forces are one of the most important parameters determining the stability and efficiency of the machining process, and their instability can lead to premature wear of the CI, destabilisation of the technological system and a decrease in the accuracy of parts manufacturing. Control, measurement and mathematical modelling of cutting forces are key aspects of optimising machining modes, predicting the service life of cutting tools and ensuring consistent surface quality. Face milling is a versatile, high-performance method for machining flat surfaces. One of the determining factors of FM is the design of the cutter, the number of cutting elements (CE), which significantly affects the power characteristics of the process, energy consumption, vibration level and machining quality. Increasing the number of CE reduces the load on them, but at the same time complicates the process of their interaction. Impact and variable deformations that occur during the entry/exit of CEs from the cutting zone can disrupt the stability of the moulding process. Errors in the precise positioning of CEs caused by imperfect mounting or fastening of the cutter negatively affect the final surface quality. Grey cast iron is widely used for manufacturing housing components, plates, frames and covers that require high precision and wear resistance. The quality of flat surfaces is critical to ensure accurate assembly, tightness of structures and their durability. The heterogeneous structure of SC-21 makes it difficult to achieve stable roughness and accuracy when milling. The development of an improved design for end mills will ensure high-quality machining of grey cast iron surfaces and is a relevant and promising task. Product Description popup.authors Valentyn V.
