Makarenko popup.description1 The aim is to theoretically justify the latest approaches of modern linguistic and methodical research, to investigate the structural-semantic, communicative-pragmatic, linguocognitive and linguocultural features of the functioning of language units of different levels in English text and discourse, to practically develop and test methods and means of their implementation in modern philological education. popup.description2 Object of the research: modern philological paradigms (anthropocentric, cognitive-discursive) and innovative linguodidactic approaches in higher philological education in the context of European integration. The aim of the work: to provide a theoretical substantiation for the latest approaches in modern linguistic and methodological research; to investigate structural-semantic, communicative-pragmatic, linguocognitive, and linguocultural characteristics of various linguistic units functioning in English text and discourse; to practically develop and test methodologies, technologies, and tools for implementing current linguomethodological approaches in philological education. Results obtained: During the implementation of the research project (2023–2025), the department staff has: • Substantiated the theoretical foundations of modern linguistic paradigms, specifically linguocognitive and communicative-pragmatic ones. • Researched structural-semantic and discursive characteristics of various types of English texts (media, literary, and educational). • Developed and implemented methodologies for building English communicative competence through gamification, project-based work, and critical reading strategies. Scientific and practical value of the outcomes: A significant body of scientific and methodological materials has been prepared during the reporting period: 1. 7 study manuals, 5 of which have been granted copyright certificates. 2. Over 50 scientific articles, including 7 published in journals indexed in Scopus and Web of Science databases. 3. 15 chapters in collective monographs published in EU countries. The results of the work have been integrated into the educational process of Makarenko Sumy State Pedagogical University, as well as general secondary education institutions in Sumy and the Sumy region.
