Particular attention was focused on compounds in which two different lanthanide ions simultaneously occupy the heteroatom position in controlled ratios. For the first time, a series of crystalline mixed-heteroion salts with Ho/Eu and Yb/Nd combinations of the composition Na9[LnxLn1–x(W5O18)2]·nH2O were obtained. It was demonstrated that these compounds are single-phase, structurally stable, and retain the characteristic Peacock–Weakley polyoxotungstate framework. This was confirmed by IR, UV-Vis, and mass spectrometry, as well as by electron microscopy. New experimental data were obtained on the influence of the heteroion composition on the spectral and luminescent properties of the polyoxotungstates. The possibility of controlling the optical characteristics of the materials by varying the lanthanide ratio was established. The results are of fundamental importance for the development of polyoxometalate chemistry and, at the same time, provide a scientific basis for designing luminescent, sensing, and potentially biocidal materials relevant to science, education, and applied fields in Ukraine and worldwide.
