Registration Date 25-12-2025 Organization Institute of Philosophy the H.Skovoroda National Ukrainian Academy of sciences popup.description1 The purpose of this study is to study the problem of the correlation of human wisdom and courage in religious and philosophical traditions of the East. As part of the study, it is planned to consider the problem connected with these ethical imperatives, grounding upon the texts of religious and philosophical traditions East, in the sociocultural contexts in which these texts were formed and, in turn, their philosophical and cultural explanations. popup.description2 The main objective of the research is to identify the interrelationship between the concepts of Wisdom and Valor (or Prowess, Courage) in the religious and philosophical traditions of the East, and to clarify their role in shaping the ideal of a holistic personality. The primary guiding principle was the method of historical-philosophical reconstruction and the method of philosophical comparativism allowed for tracing common intentions and conceptualizations in the understanding of these phenomena across Hinduism, Buddhism, Zen Buddhism, Islam and Sufism, the Judeo-Hasidic tradition, and Neo-Vedanta. The current scientific body of work concerning wisdom and valor in Eastern traditions was synthesized. Based on the analysis of scholarly literature, the researchers concluded that, despite a significant amount of work in this area, comprehensive comparative studies are virtually absent. Furthermore, certain traditions, particularly the philosophical ideas of the Upanishads, are generally under-researched. Translations and commentaries were prepared for the texts from Eastern religious and philosophical traditions relevant to this study, specifically those reflecting the themes of wisdom and valor. The results of the study demonstrated that in all major Eastern philosophical traditions (Hinduism, Buddhism, Zen Buddhism, Neo-Vedanta, Hasidism, Islam), the concepts of Wisdom and Valor constitute an inseparable unity. In all traditions examined, Wisdom represents not only the understanding of truth but an existential state, while Valor signifies not so much martial courage as spiritual resilience (the ability to act without fear and egoism). The research findings can be utilized in the military, educational, managerial, economic, and cultural spheres. They contribute to the development of ethical responsibility, moral resilience, and spiritual strength within Ukrainian society as key factors for national security during wartime and post-war reconstruction.
