The project purpose was to evaluate the effectiveness of methods that we applied in the breeding process by summarizing practical experience and assessing pea lines intended for different purposes for economic characteristics. Methods - planning and conducting field experiments, measuring and weighing, biochemical, breeding, statistical analysis. Hybrid offspring from crossing P. sativum with P. elatius and P. fulvum was assessed. We obtained interspecific hybrids between Pisum L species; analysis of the corolla color and leaf type in F2–F3 confirmed the presence of true hybrids. Multi-year experience in pea breeding was implemented in the monograph “Pea Breeding”. The monograph summarizes the results of pea breeding at the Yuriev Plant Production Institute in 1997–2024 in such areas as: breeding of cultivars with changed architectonics, breeding for lodging resistance, breeding for resistance to major diseases, and solving the problem of tolerance to abiotic factors (drought and high temperatures). The second issue of “Passport of Donors of Valuable Breeding and Agronomic Traits” was published. A trait working collection of overwintering peas was registered; the collection includes 27 accessions originating from 10 countries and grouped by 9 characteristics: freezing tolerance, overwintering upon pre-winter sowing, growing season, height to the first productive node, stem length, thousand-seed weight, yield, yield upon when spring sowing. Five new pea cultivars (‘Sotnyk’, ‘Obrii’, ‘Vatazhok’, ‘IR Lainer’, and ‘IR Ronin’) with sets of economically valuable characteristics to meet various market needs have been bred and submitted to the State Qualifying Examination. The following cultivars were included in the Register of Plant Varieties Suitable for Dissemination in Ukraine: ‘Kapitan’ (2021), ‘Aiaks’ (2023), ‘Obrii’ (2024), and ‘Sotnyk’ (2024) Product Description popup.authors Vadym O.
