The purpose was to theoretically justify the use of heterosis in sunflower hybrids derived from combining parental germplasms of different origins into various combinations of valuable traits, including tolerance to climate change, resistance to common diseases, improved fatty acid composition of oil and technological suitability for current cultivation technologies. Field, laboratory, and statistical methods were used. A working collection of lines formed by a set of economic traits was prepared. “Line Catalog” was published. The monograph “Methodological Foundations of Sunflower Production Process Management” was published (Kharkiv, 2022). Scientific and methodological guidelines “Methodological Foundations of Heterosis Effect Variability in Economically Valuable Traits of Sunflower Depending on Environmental Conditions” were published (Kharkiv, 2023). The following guidebooks were published: “Phytotoxicity of Sulfonylurea Herbicides and Sunflower Breeding” (Kharkiv, 2021); “Agricultural Crop Variety Science. Part 1. Oilseed Crops (Sunflower and Oilseed Flax)” (Kharkiv, 2025). The following hybrids were submitted for qualifying examination: ‘Korund’, ‘IR Sonet’, ‘IR Polysk’, and ‘IR Ahata’. 9 first-generation hybrids were included in the State Register of Plant Varieties Suitable for Dissemination in Ukraine: ‘Blyks’, ‘Sokrat’, ‘Vyrii’, ‘Epikur’, ‘Azart’, ‘Holkiper’, ‘Yaskravyi’, ‘Khoryv’, and ‘IR Polysk’. 7 lines – hybrids’ parental components were also included in the State Register. The results were reported in a monograph, a section of an international monograph, two guidebooks; 17 articles in professional Ukrainian journals; 15 conference abstracts, two information articles, 42 certificates and patents for plant varieties.
