Yuriev of the National Academy of Agrarian Sciences of Ukraine popup.description1 The purpose is to create a sort-season sunflower hybrid with increased adaptability to environmental stressors that can exert significant negative effects on plants during their initial development popup.description2 Valuable promising sunflower lines - pollen sterility fixers ‘Kh 778 B’, ‘Kh 774 B’ and ‘Kh 776 B’ (productivity 35.00, 27.82 and 28.35 g/plant, respectively) with high combining ability were selected and transferred to the National Plant Gene Bank of Ukraine as sources of early ripeness; over the study years, they were superior to the tester lines in terms of productivity and had optimal levels of morphological characteristics. Based on the results, valuable ultra-early sunflower lines - fertility restorers KhZU 37 V’, ‘Kh 8418 V’, ‘Kh 8435 V’, ‘Kh 8448 V’, ‘Kh 8413 V’, ‘Kh 8465 V’, and ‘Kh 2122 V’ were identified; the lines combine high productivity (13.80 - 24.20 g/plant) with resistance to the pathogen of downy mildew. Experimental sunflower hybrids ‘Skh7701А’/’Kh2283V’ (2.65 t/ha), ‘Skh775А’/’Kh4413V’ (2.93 t/ha), ‘Skhх772А’/’Kh06134V’ (2.82 t/ha), ‘Skh779А’/’Kh06134V’ (2.99 t/ha), and ‘Skh776А’/’Kh06135V’ (2.77 t/ha) were shown to yield more than the check hybrid (‘Slavson’). An early-ripening sunflower hybrid, ‘IR Hrant’ was created; its vegetation period lasts 108 days; in competitive trials (2021-2025), it yielded 2.33 t/ha; the thousand-seed weight was 51.5 g; the oil content in seeds was 51.20%; and the oil output was 1074 kg/ha. This hybrid yielded 0.24 t/ha more than the check hybrid (‘Slavson’); the oil content in its seeds was 0.64% higher than that in hyb. ‘Slavson’ seeds; and the oil output was 1,074 kg/ha more than that from hyb. ‘Slavson’. High levels of valuable economic characteristics of early-ripening sunflower hybrid ‘IR Lehat’ were confirmed; according to the results of the state examination, they were recognized as meeting the requirements for growing in the Steppe and Forest-Steppe of Ukraine.
