The study object was spring barley breeding. The project purpose was to develop theoretical foundations for spring barley breeding, create and submit new cultivars for qualifying examination. The methods were field and laboratory. The main breeding method was intraspecific hybridization. The 2021–2025 studies were conducted at all stages of the breeding process in starting material nurseries, year 1 and 2 breeding nurseries, control nurseries, and competitive trial nurseries. Statistical significance was determined using a one-way ANOVA in Statistica 6.0, followed by Fisher’s LSD test for post-hoc comparisons (p < 0.05). The results and their novelty. In 2021–2025, 30,694 accessions were studied at all stages of the breeding process; 4,940 (16%) were selected for further research. 2,530 families and cultivars were grown in seed nurseries; 9,594 (71%) were selected. 404 new crossing combinations were created. Certificate No. 346 dated 05/12/2025 for a collection of spring barley accessions for endosperm vitreousness was received. The collection contains 90 accessions from 11 countries and described by 11 characteristics in 36 gradations. In 2021–2025, 5 spring barley cultivars were submitted for qualifying examination. According to approbation results, seven barley cultivars were included in the State Register of Plant Varieties: ‘Herkules’, ‘Iner’, ‘Svitoch’ (2021), ‘Hordii’, ‘Elf’ (2024), ‘IR Yarets’, and ‘Sichovyk’ (2025). In 2025, cv. ‘IR Delis’ was submitted for qualifying examination. The trials of cv. ‘IR Kvinto’ are under way. In 2021–2025, 64 scientific papers were published, including 5 articles in Scopus- and WoS-indexed journals and 9 articles in professional Ukrainian journals (category B).
