The purpose of the work is to develop and carry out research based on the Neutron Source NSI, develop methods and conduct research on the production of radioisotopes in the active zone of the subcritical assembly. Estimates were obtained for the activities of radioisotopes formed in 10 g of molybdenum oxide powder MoO3 and in an aluminum container after 5 hours of irradiation. The formation of various radioactive nuclei (with a half-life of more than 1 hour) in more than 100 reactions on natural molybdenum nuclei and impurities in molybdenum and an aluminum container during irradiation in the neutron spectrum was considered. The main contribution to the activity of the irradiated MoO3 sample at the end of irradiation is made by the target isotopes 99Mo and 99mTc. An assessment was made of the activity of radioactive waste accumulated during one year of operation in the production of the radiopharmaceutical “Sodium pertechnetate [99mTc] extraction”. In total, over the course of a year, with a constant work schedule, irradiation of MoO3 samples and aluminum containers is expected. In total, about 9 liters of liquid radioactive waste will accumulate during the year, with a total activity at the end of the year of about 0.45 GBq and a specific activity of ~50 MBq/l.
