As a result of wide involvement of genetically diverse breeding materials, including exotic and foreign germplasm of corn, as well as modern selection and genetic methods, productive high-yielding heat-resistant hybrids (FAO 210-400) will be bred popup.description2 The research work is devoted to a comprehensive study of biochemical, physiological, genetic, and morphological aspects of maize productivity and grain quality formation under changing climate conditions. The aim of the study was to improve the scientific foundations of maize breeding aimed at increasing productivity, tolerance to abiotic stresses, and grain quality parameters. During the reporting period, field, laboratory, and analytical studies were conducted on maize breeding material of different ecological and genetic origins. Biochemical parameters of the grain (protein, starch, oil, sugars, enzyme activity), physiological and biochemical indicators of adaptability (photosynthetic rate, chlorophyll content, antioxidant enzyme activity), and genetic markers of economically valuable traits were analyzed. Thirty maize lines and hybrids were evaluated for yield, stability, adaptability, and grain quality in various agroecological conditions. Six lines with high ecological plasticity, drought tolerance, and stable productivity were identified. Twelve new maize lines were developed and recommended for further breeding. Relationships between biochemical and physiological traits determining productivity were established. Enzymatic activity and photosynthetic performance were identified as diagnostic criteria for selecting genotypes with enhanced adaptability. Based on the results, methodological recommendations for integrated evaluation of maize breeding material were developed, combining biochemical, physiological, and molecular approaches.
