Operational control of surface pollution of water bodies and air can be carried out using methods and means for environmental monitoring of parameters of polluting factors, in particular using optical methods and measuring devices. The results of the study show that the combination of multi-channel ultraviolet analysis with machine learning algorithms, in particular Random Forest, is an effective strategy for determining the concentration of nitrates in water in the presence of impurities, turbidity and other optical interference. The created system showed high accuracy even without the use of laboratory sample preparation or chemical reagents, which is a significant advantage compared to traditional methods. The most informativeness in the analysis process was shown by differential signs, in particular the difference and ratio between the signals of the 308 and 265 nm channels. This once again confirms the effectiveness of the multichannel approach not only as a way to reduce errors, but also as a means of separating nitrate information from the accompanying spectral noise associated with humates, natural colloids and suspended particles. The presence of such sources of interference makes classical single-channel methods based on the linear dependence of the signal practically unsuitable.
