This will help to prevent inbreeding, restore and increase the number of the Myrhorod pig breed while preserving its main characteristics, and increase the economic effect of its use by using intra-breed heterosis to obtain high quality commercial products. popup.description2 At the experimental station of the Institute of Pig Breeding and Agro-Industrial Production, 10 farrowings were obtained from sows of the restored Mirgorod breed and another 10 farrowings from direct and reciprocal crossbreeding with the Poltava meat breed in the first half of 2024. The reproductive capacity of sows was assessed based on the results of farrowings (Table 1). It was found that the average litter size of purebred sows was 0.1 heads below the first class requirements, and 2 of the 10 farrowings were considered emergency (6 or fewer piglets per farrowing). The average litter weight was also 13.3 kg below the first class requirements.
