FLAME SPREAD, TESTING, FLOOR COVERINGS, EQUIPMENT, FIRE REACTION, THERMAL EXPOSURE, FLAME, FIRE, VERIFICATION, TESTING EQUIPMENT The purpose of the work is to determine the properties of floor coverings regarding flame spread resistance under fire conditions according to the European method. The object of research is the process of fire spread on floor coverings under the influence of a heat radiation source. The subject of research is the influence of the properties of applicable materials on the process of fire spread on floor coverings. Research methods – analytical and experimental method of researching the properties of floor coverings by the indicator of flame spread under the influence of a heat radiation source in accordance with DSTU EN ISO 9239-1:2022. Equipment for testing floor coverings for flame spread under the influence of a heat radiation source, which complies with DSTU EN ISO 9239-1:2022, has been created. A passport, technical description, operating instructions, program and verification methodology for this equipment have been developed, and its initial verification and commissioning have been carried out. Verification of the test method on the created equipment has been carried out by conducting experimental studies of the flame spread properties of three types of floor coverings, which are widely used at construction sites in Ukraine. Regularities have been identified regarding the parameters of the flame propagation process on the surface of floor coverings under the influence of a heat radiation source in accordance with DSTU EN ISO 9239-1:2022. In accordance with the requirements of EU and World Trade Organization standards, proposals have been prepared for amendments to building codes regarding fire safety requirements for floor coverings.
