The purpose of the research is to develop proposals for improving the national occupational safety and health legislation of Ukraine in order to ensure the safety and health of workers during the performance of work in areas contaminated with explosive remnants of war and during demolition and recovery works in environments contaminated with carcinogenic substances, including asbestos. The research is aimed at studying European experience and practices that allow for effective reduction of health risks to workers in similar conditions, as well as adapting these practices to the Ukrainian context. Research method – theoretical research. Achievement of the research purpose is envisaged through: - identifying gaps and shortcomings in current regulatory acts that may hinder the effective protection of workers’ safety; - analyzing the experience of countries affected by military actions and their approaches to protecting workers when performing work in hazardous conditions; - studying European standards and directives regulating occupational safety and health when working with carcinogenic substances, in particular asbestos; - assessing the effectiveness and relevance of European approaches for Ukrainian conditions; - identifying factors that will facilitate the effective implementation of these practices in Ukraine; - determining necessary measures to increase the level of worker safety in hazardous conditions.
