The goal of the work is to develop and improve methods for predicting residual life and ensuring reliability of launch structures of launch vehicles and shell structures in aerospace and energy engineering. Research methods include methods of solid mechanics, fracture mechanics, structural mechanics, analytical and numerical methods of computational mathematics, and reliability theory. The current state of the problem of residual life predicting of complex technical systems has been analyzed. The impact of defects, imperfections, and specific load conditions on the stress–strain state of storage tanks for petroleum and other products has been analyzed. Methods for ensuring reliability and safety of launch structures for launch vehicles have been developed and improved. Methods for estimation of residual life of launch structures have been developed. Methods for evaluation of stress-strain state of shell structures with initial imperfections have been proposed as well. The obtained scientific results may be used to advance scientific and methodological basis for strength and reliability analyses of beam and shell structures.
