According to the results of the research, it has been proven that macrolides, derivatives of arylaliphatic amino alcohols and quaternary ammonium compounds affect the virulence of P. aeruginosa, Acinetobacter baumanii and Klebsiella pneumoniae, inhibit the growth and reproduction of planktonic cells, disrupt film formation, and suppress adhesion to the substrate. The decrease in bacterial adhesion is associated with the effect on cellular adhesion factors (“swimming”, “swarming”, “twitching” - migration), which is realized by reducing the biomass of the biofilm.
Macrolides and derivatives of arylaliphatic amino alcohols are able to affect QS-dependent virulence factors of P. aeruginosa - protease activity and synthesis of extracellular and cell-associated.
