The purpose of the study is to develop methodological aspects of determining the grain size composition of soil samples taken in places where hostilities took place by laser diffraction. Research methods are theoretical, general scientific, field, analytical statistical. A generalization of the data on the grain size distribution during military action is presented, an algorithm for determining the impact of military operations on the grain size distribution of soil using a laser particle analyzer, methodological aspects of determining changes in the grain size distribution of soil caused by military operations. It was established that changes in the grain size distribution do not always occur; it depends on the depth of the craters during explosions, the time of sampling in the case of chemical action. According to the algorithm, it is recommended: to carry out sampling both at the site of soil damage and nearby - in a place of visually undamaged soil; to carry out sample preparation depending on the one used when setting up the device and setting the refractive index of a certain type of soil; to analyze the data and draw conclusions regarding changes in grain size fractions, taking into account the standard deviation of the laser diffraction method by fractions. The scientific publication "Methodological aspects of determining changes in the granulometric composition of soil using a laser particle analyzer caused by military operations" has been developed, which presents methodological approaches to determining differences in the granulometric composition of soil samples under military influence: sampling, sample preparation and measurement parameters, comparison of results when using different research methods; results of research on differences in the granulometric composition and influence factors.
