Research methods – a systems-based approach combining advanced information technologies, classical mechanical–mathematical modeling, analytical and numerical methods, and experimental verification of the obtained results. Within the reporting stage, a comprehensive set of analytical, numerical, experimental, and field-oriented industrial studies was carried out to develop a new generation of shell-type vibration-protection devices for deep drilling and energy production. Three new technical products were developed. The first is a high-strength adaptive drilling shock absorber in which stiffness enhancement under overload conditions is achieved passively due to structural nonlinearity and a controlled transition to local contact between the split shell and the housing. The second is a compliant shell-type damper for the elastic suspension of a sucker-rod string, providing effective vibration attenuation through the operation of a slotted shell and its contact–friction interaction with a filler. The third is a shock absorber based on a package of split shells, where the multi-contact architecture ensures increased energy dissipation and is promising for high-load operating regimes typical of geothermal wells. For the developed designs, analytical and numerical models and design methodologies were formulated, linking geometry, friction effects, and material properties with key operational performance indicators.
