Head Sokolova Svitlana O., Доктор філологічних наук Registration Date 05-02-2026 Organization Institute for Ukrainian Language of National Academy of Sciences of Ukraine popup.description1 popup.description2 Within the planned research theme, the researchers defined the theoretical foundations for studying the dynamics of citizens' language behavior and the language situation in the country, selected research methods relevant to the new conditions, traced the features of wartime intercultural communication, characterized language transformation processes through the examples of public figures and ordinary citizens, characterized the language behavior features of representatives of specific social groups, identified the direction of language situation development toward strengthening the position of the Ukrainian language, determined the problems arising along this path, and outlined society's tasks for reinforcing this trend. Analysis of political discourse allowed for highlighting its features under current conditions, particularly noting the radicalization of views on the language question and the growing number of contexts in which the concepts of war and language are closely linked. Coverage of the language activism issue demonstrated that project founders are not government bodies or research institutions, but socially active Ukrainians who care about the fate of the Ukrainian language. Significant attention in the study was devoted to youth speech, within whose environment the country's linguistic future is being formed, specifically tracing changes in the language ideologies of ethnic Ukrainians and Crimean Tatars under current socio-political conditions. Language changes were also studied in regional aspects (Kyiv, Sumy, and Ternopil oblasts) and in terms of interaction between Ukrainian- and Russian-speaking communities in connection with mass migration, as well as the features of language transformation and adaptation of Ukrainian wartime migrants in other countries. Special attention in the study was given to the education sphere, through which the overall language situation can be influenced.
