A refined problem formulation and a computational model of shells of revolution are developed based on the geometrically nonlinear Timoshenko shell and beam theory with independent hypotheses for each layer. The equations of motion are derived using the Hamilton–Ostrogradsky variational principle. The influence of boundary conditions and structural parameters on the dynamic behavior of three-layer shell elements is analyzed. For the numerical analysis of the stress–strain state, a three-dimensional finite element model is developed using the MSC Nastran software package. An approach to determining the impulse load on spherical-cylindrical shells under a plane shock wave is proposed, and the distribution of the maximum diffraction pressure along the perimeter of the structure is obtained.
