The purpose of the work is to investigate the migration behavior and redistribution of radionuclides, the features of the formation of the radiation dose rate and the modification of cytogenetic and somatic effects in aquatic organisms of water bodies that have undergone radical changes in the hydrological, hydrophysical, hydrochemical and hydrobiological parameters of the aquatic environment. Research methods are hydrobiological and radioecological sampling methods, spectrometric and radiochemical analysis of the specific activity of radionuclides; dosimetric analysis of the absorbed dose rate of ionizing radiation; cytogenetic, hematological and reproductive methods for assessing radiobiological effects. It was established that the change in the hydrological regime of the cooling reservoir of the Chernobyl NPP and Lake. Azbuchyn led to a disruption of the dynamic equilibrium of the processes of transition of mobile forms of radionuclides (primarily 90Sr) from bottom sediments to the water column and their removal due to hydraulic connection and filtration through the dams to the Pripyat River. The ongoing process of transition of radionuclides from bottom sediments under conditions of changing hydrological regime, on the one hand, and on the other hand, the entry of mobile biologically available forms of 90Sr into water bodies from soils that ended up in drained areas, led to an increase in the volume activity of the radionuclide in the water of the cooling reservoir and Lake Azbuchyn by 3 and 14 times, respectively, as well as an increase in the level of its accumulation by aquatic biota and, accordingly, to an increase in the absorbed radiation dose rate.
