THERMOELECTRIC COOLING, VITREORETINAL SURGERY, EYE INJURY, CONTROLLED HYPOTHERMIA, OPHTHALMOLOGY. The object of the research is thermal processes in the human eye during vitreoretinal surgery, as well as their correlation with the anatomical and functional state of intraocular structures in combat eye trauma, the subject is a thermoelectric device for controlled hypothermia of the eye during vitreoretinal surgery in servicemen with combat eye trauma. The purpose of the work is to develop and manufacture an experimental sample of a thermoelectric device for controlled hypothermia of the eye during vitreoretinal surgery in servicemen with combat eye injuries. Research methods include methods of mathematical physics; methods of computer object-oriented simulation of heat and electricity transfer processes, in particular, in thermoelectric media; experimental methods of thermal physics and thermoelectricity. Based on the developed methods of object-oriented computer simulation, the design and optimized construction of a fundamentally new thermoelectric device for controlled hypothermia of the eye during retinal surgery in military personnel with combat eye injuries was completed. A prototype of the device was manufactured and its experimental studies were conducted in laboratory conditions. A methodology for using the device in medical practice was developed. The created equipment for controlling intraocular temperature and the temperature of irrigation fluid during vitreoretinal surgery makes it possible to improve the effectiveness of treatment of patients with severe pathology due to combat eye trauma by using the beneficial effects of hypothermia and reducing the risks that arise during vitreoretinal surgery with uncontrolled temperature parameters.
