The work purpose is the manufacture improvement of the chamotte brand МШ 36-1 and of mullite brands ММЛ 62-1 and ММЛУ 62 mortars. The research investigations are petrographycal, chemical and thermomechanical. An employment possibility in the manufacture of mullite brands ММЛ 62-1 and ММЛУ 62 and chamotte brand МШ 36-1 mortars of kaolin chamotte of the brand ШКН-1and ШКВ-1 as well as of clays of brands ДH-2 and ДНПК is ascertained which allowed to improve properties of mortars: for ММЛ 62-1 - to decrease the content of Fe2O3 from 1,4% up to 1,3%; for ММЛУ 62 - to increase the limits of the mass change mix when igniting from 1,3 -2,5% up to 1,8 -2,5 %. In OJSC "The Ukrainian research institute of refractories named after A.S.Berezhnoy" the trial lots of the mullite and chamotte mortars of optimum composition were produced.
