Work purpose - technology revision of coryndum and spinelcontaining purging plugs and low cement castables for steelteening ladles with the out of furnace treatment of steel and the manufacture of trial lots. Research methods - petrographycal, chemical, physical. New most perfect designs of purging plugs were developed . Trial lots of plugs for the bottom blowing of steel were produced as well as their testing in 120 - ton ladles was carried in enterprises of " ММЗ-Истил (Ukraine)" and "Niezhniedniepropetrowsky piperolling plant". An average time span of their duration was egual to 31 hours compared with 27 hours using foreigh plugs. The composition was revised as well as the trial lot of low cement corundum spinel mix from homemade materials ( fused corundum, fused alumomagnesial spinel, ВГЦ, alumina ) was produced. The testing in bottoms of 3 steelteeming90-ton ladles of OJSC " Dnieprospiezstal plant" was done. The trial lining ensured the stability 59 - 61 heats, i.e. on the level of imported mix "Basatix". The tests of purging plugs and castable after the service were carried out and the wear out mechanism was ascertained. The scientific work should be continued for the purpose of working out new compositions, broadening employment of purging plugs of new design and for the purpose of elaborating the composition of corundum spinel mix to reduce the time span of setting, strength, slag impregnation.
