The work purpose was to determine the efficiency of an addi- tional coupling for the truck design of the 18-100 model, to analyze the statistic cha- racteristics of the results of tests of wagons with standard and upgraded trucks and various wheel rim profiles, to develop sensors for measuring vibration accelera- tions on a freight wagon. Methods for mathematical and computer modeling, mathematical statistics, numerical integration are used. Based on the results of analytical studies, changes in wheel wear coefficients by using diagonal coupling between side frames and wheel pairs of the truck are predicted. The results of tests of standard and upgraded freight wagons with standard and new (ITM 73) wheel profiles are statistically proces- sed and analyzed. Works on creation of sensors for measuring vibration accelerations on the body and slip units of a freight wagon are carried out. Novelty of the results is in the fact that an additional coupling between wheel pairs with high stiffness can sig- nifically reduce the wheel wear on curves; wagons with upgraded trucks are significally better than a standard wagon according to dynamic coefficients; the PDU-50 sensor deve- loped allows measuring vibration accelerations from 5 up to 50 g ranging between 0 and 1 kHz, and the PDU-5M sensor upgraded allows measuring vibration accelerations up to 5 g in the frequency range of 0-100 Hz. The results will be used to solve practical prob- lems on improvement in freight wagons and dynamical testing railway rolling stock. Ap- plications - railway transport.
