The work purpose - the finishing of the manufacturing technology of refracrories from monoclinic ZrO2. The research methods are chemical, petrographical, roentgenphase analysises of initial materials and refractories on their basis.Comparative research of a joint influence of alumina additions in an amount from 1 up to 4% and silicacontaining additions as zircon as well as wastes of quartz to be used in the manufacturing of quartz glass in an amount from 1 up 5% according to SiO2 on the main indices of properties of samples ZrO2 was carried out. It was established that zircon should be used as silicacontaining addition and an introduction of such addition makes possible to produce essentially more higher indices of properties - open porosity is by 1,2-1,3 tamis lower, compression strength is 1,4-1,6 times higher compared with utilization of quartz addition used in the manufacture of a quartz glass in the same amount. It was shown that as to the indices of porosity, density, strength and softening temperature samples from electrofused monoclinic ZrO2 with an addition of 3% of alumina and 3% of ZrO2 as zircon are optimal. An influence research of the limit size of an aggregate grains(1,0 -0,5 m ), intrafraction grain composition of the blend and of an amount of finely milled component of sample of optimum composition was conducted.Optimum grain compositions of blends ensuring the manufacture of samples which are characterized by high indices of properties: open porosity - 16,7 - 17,5, apparent density - 4,45-4,48 g/sm3, compression strength - 100 -125 MPa, thermal shock resistance (1300 C-water) - 3 heatcycles, T 0,6-1700 C were determined. In accordance with results of carried research an application for supposed invention was handed in. In the O.J.S.C"The Ukrainian research institute of refractories named after A.S.Berezhnoy" with regard for obtained research results trial lots of refractory products from electrofused ZrO2 were produced. The work should be continued for the purpose of broadening of the manufacture volumes of products from electrofused monoclinic ZrO2 and from ZrO2 stabilized by CaO for the units continuous manufacture of ultra pure quartz glass for the batch furnaces intended for the manufacture of quartz glass.
