The purpose of the work is the technology revision of runner mass, output of trial lot and its industrial tests in the trough of the blast furnace. Methods of researches are physical-mechanical, chemical and petrographic. Laboratory researches of influence of the content of silicon carbide and high-alumina cement in thixotropic runner refractory mass of corundumsiliconcarbide composition on its properties factors are executed. It is shown, that from investigated thixotropic runner mass of the most erosion resistant to hot metal influence is the mass, containing in its composition 13 % of silicon carbide and 2 % of high-alumina cement. Such mass is recommended for industrial tests in the iron runner of the blast furnace. For industrial tests in the slag spout of the blast furnace, masses with higher content of silicon carbide - 25-35 %, which have the highest slagresistance, are developed and recommended. The trial lot of corundumsiliconcarbide mix for thixotropic refractory runner mass of the composition, recommended for industrial tests in performance in iron runner, is let out. The industrial tests in performance in rocking iron runner lining № 1 of the blast furnace № 4 of OJSC "МК "Azovsteel" of thixotropic refractory runner mass of corundumsiliconcarbide composition, prepared from trial lot of its dry mix, are carried out. Positive tests results are obtained: within 35 performance days of trial lining without its current repairs, 81 thousand tons of iron was run through the trough that was at the level of the best factor of the resistance, achieved in the centre, using import masses. The technology of thixotropic runner mass is finished off: application of aluminum bronze for its preparation is excluded, the design of respective alteration of technological instruction is developed. It is necessary to continue the work towards further perfection of composition and industrial tests of thixotropic mass in the main runner lining where it serves in contact with both iron and slag, and introduction of its application.
